ICT integration in my classroom

ICT integration in my teaching 


21st century teacher implies to practice that one explore require to be forms of information and communication technology in the lesson. Using various approaches by teacher in his or her teaching will have great impact in teaching learning process. Learning via AV technology creates a stimulating and interactive environment. More than that we are leaving in the audio visual age and it is essential that our children are exposed in this technology, so that they become skilled from the young age. Such opportunity if provided in the class room can facilitate learning. (AV)  in my lesson development part I made my students to listen the audio- visual sound and then to repeat what they hear from the audio- visual sound.   


On 7th September, 2020 I taught the lesson for class PP English. The topic for the lesson was Pre-Literacy Skills Area 1. (Alphabet Sound Recall A precursor to reading, spelling and writing). 


Instruction ‘What are these sounds?’ The ICT based teaching aids used for the lesson were, ‘mobile, laptop, and WIFI internet. I goggled up some video from the internet and presented to students through wechat forum. I also made the video tutorial on the above topics and presented to students as means of ICT integration in my teaching. The videos on alphabet sound recall were shared through wechat and lesson objective were fulfilled as expected. However there were a bit differences in comprehending or understanding the task as compared to face to face learning. Any way the need for learning and keeping all engaged was found good and favorable using online method of teaching through wechat forum.

In the activity part, I made children to practice rehearsal the alphabet sound and to make video of individual child with a practice of sounds and to send back to concern teacher. While follow up I found that most of the children performed exceptionally well. I concluded that AV lesson has contributed immensely in enhancing their capabilities.

Therefore, with development in technology there are numerous methods which we can integrate in our teaching , so that our who are the leaders of tomorrow are equipped with skills and knowledge required in the 21st century.

 ICT TEACHING IN MY CLASSROOM

Online teaching and learning has been the most sought after platform globally after hit by Covid-19 pandemic. It has been in practice in many of the countries besides formal classroom setting. However, it is very new to our education system though minimal teaching through ICT have been taking place in various capacity but not solely online.

Despite all, teaching and learning had to continue through various applications and commonly and ensuring equity. Thus, for pre-primary class, teaching often takes place through short tutorials, video and audio and graphic organizer and picture cues suitable for young learners.

This time the pre-primary lesson was on phonic sound, specifically targeting only first five sounds. In the introduction, to let children predict, posted two letter sounds (phonic) to start interaction between teacher and students in the forum and ensure effective discussion on the upcoming topic, which is synchronous in nature. Both teacher and students are on same page at same time engaged in interacting content.

ICT IS AN INTEGRAL PART IN TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS

After attending the session on EDN 419..I realised that as a teacher it is imperative that we integrate ICT in teaching learning process to enhance learning of the students. The fast fast advances of Information and communication technology has revolutionized the educational sector into making teaching learning flexible. The current trends in education requires a paradigm shift from more supply of ICT in education into comprehensive use of ICT in education.
